5/10 AM/PM BASS & BLUES

NEXT OPEN BOAT TRIPS ARE WED, THURS AND FRIDAY AT 5PM TO 10PM FOR STRIPERS & BLUEFISH.

Sunday we made it out on both trips. The morning we had a small crowd on board and fishing was good. We had a lot of big bluefish and a few stripers on. The afternoon we had a nice crowd and went back to where we were fishing and had a stead pick of bluefish up to 16lbs.

I do have to say something about the equipment some people are bringing. First thing please make sure your reel is working right meaning i have seen a lot of reels that have no drag at all. They get a fish on, the reel is locked up and POW line breaks. SPRAY THE REEL WITH WD-40. Make sure you can pull line off the reel with your hand and please change the line every year. If you plan on buying a new set up and you plan on coming out for bass, bluefish, fluke and porgies look into getting a spinning rod and reel to make life a lot easier on yourself. They are the best because you can cast them easier, no birds nest and you need to cast away from the boat when we are fishing for the bass and bluefish plus if you want to snag bunker, use a jig or bucktail it is so much better using a spinning rod. I also think it is easier to fight the fish with them. This is just my personal opinion not everyone has to use them. I don't mean something that costs 500 dollars either unless that is what you want and can afford it. Just something that you can put 20 to 30lb test line on and that can hold 4 to 10oz sinkers. I recommend mono instead of braid but that is just my personal preference because it is easier to get out of tangles with and doesnt cut up your hands. Thanks Capt.Mike
