Posted on June 6, 2021 More fifties — one in the surf There’s no question about the unusual abundance of 50-pound striped bass n NY/NJ Bight waters as the spawned-out bass seem to be moving slowly up to summering grounds in New England. Chuck Many has been doing a job on them with live eels, but a lowly salted clam from Grumpy’s Tackle in Seaside Park produced the first I’ve heard of in the surf. Grumpy’s posted the shot of Craig Napolitano on the beach this morning with the 51-incher that buried his Boga Grip. Many not only put Jack Glassberg into jumbo bass. but 51 and 52-pounders were included for the now spoiled 17-year-old. Chuck noted that he didn’t break the 50-pound mark until he was 35. South winds at 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 are forecast for Monday along with possible fog.
