Capt. Howard Bogan reported continued good fishing on the weekend. A 10-pound pollock won the pool, and Jimmy Not from Manalapan had a 6.5-pound sea bass.
Hugh Mura of South Brunswick took his son Dan with his friend Tony Nguyen aboard Saturday's offshore wreck trip of the Voyager from Point Pleasant. They combined for 12 jumbo bass plus nine smaller keepers, 25 porgies and five bluefish. Some small pollock plus ling and congers were caught around the boat as everyone had plenty of fish.
I gave the Sea Girt surf a late afternoon try. The surf was already getting rough even though there was little east wind. It was fishable, but there was no life -- and the only other angler had the same report.
Capt. Stan Zagleski reported a good mix of short and keeper blackfish on today's sailing of Elaine B II from Highlands. Some limits were taken as green and whitelegger crabs were both effective.
