Captain's Focus

Despite today's weather, it appears at least some party boats will be making shortened Thanksgiving morning striper trips. Be sure to check with skippers before coming down. The Jamaica is planning on going from 6 a.m. to noon out of Brielle. At Point Pleasant, the Queen Mary is scheduled for the same time, and the Cock Robin from 6 to 1. The Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands has posted a 6:30 to noon trip. The Jamaica had a very good offshore wreck trip on Sunday, as there were sea bass limits for all plus porgies and some cod and pollock. Those trips run on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Call 732 528-5014 for reservations. The pool winner was Marek Paluch of Clifton with a 31-pound cod.
