Captain's Focus

Both bunkers and striped bass returned to the Shore today after a very tough weekend. Quite a few large bass were hooked in bunker schools, but party boats generally had a hard time jigging them. My report on this blog was lost due to some technical problem, so I'm getting out this general information quickly and will add details tomorrow. Small bass also finally became more common. Chuck Many of Annandale ran into them right in Sandy Hook Bay on the way way out from Gateway Marina in Highlands with his Ty Man, and also hooked some on the outside. Joe Melillo of Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant reported school bass were picked in the surf  from Spring Lake to Mantoloking as sand eels have finally started showing. Anglers should take advantage of this action on Wednesday before the big drop in temperatures.
