Captain's Focus

It's been pretty much a blowout week for boaters due to the northeaster, but some party boats well give it a try Thursday. At Point Pleasant, the Cock Robin will be sailing for big blues at 7:30 a.m., as will the Queen Mary for blues and bonito. The Queen Mary is chartered on Saturday. The Golden Eagle will be sailing for big blues from Belmar, while Elaine B II from Highlands will be fluking. The Jamaica from Brielle has cancelled the morning bluefish trip, but will sail for night blues at 7:30 p.m. Check web sites to determine what other boats may be doing. I took a look at the Bay Head surf this morning, but found the northeast wind still blowing about 20 mph while the surf was rough and dirty. There was also a lot of weed on the beach. It may take a couple of tide changes before the surf becomes fishable.
