Though the Forks of the Delaware Shad Tournament was ended this year after 30 years, it is being replaced in the Phillipsburg-Easton area by expansion of the Bi-State Shad Fishing Tournament to a four-day format from April 26 to 29. The entry fee is $30, and first place is worth $2,500. For information call 610 762-0440. Dave Perruso, of Palmer Townsip, Pa., said shad fishing started out great in the Delaware River until heavy rains made fishing almost impossible. He expects it to be back in shape for the contest. The Golden Eagle from Belmar won't be sailing for stripers the next two days due to strong wind forecasts.
