Captain's Focus

December 27th, 2011

Monday, we sailed with a light crowd. We fished to the north approximately 5 miles from our inlet and had immediate bird life and fish play. We caught a couple dozen shorts, a few keeper stripers and a few keeper blues. Then the wind started blowing out of the NNW 30 knots and gusty with a current running up in to the wind. We continued to pick shorts on every drift. Blew the horn to come home at 1:50 p.m. and on the way we ran in to bird life we couldn't pass up and we immediately stopped and threw several keepers in the boat, along with some shorts. At the end of the day we had 4 fish over 20 lbs with some of our customers limiting out and even catching their bonus fish. Our pool winner was Karol Wietecha with a 25 lb 6 oz striper.

We were the only striper boat out of Belmar today due to the lack of customers because of inclement weather. When I talked to the Captain this afternoon the fishing seemed to be excellent with a lot of people limiting out. Sounded like the whole boat was going to end up limiting out by the end of the day. We will post later today or tomorrow first thing in the morning.
