11/18/14: The boat did sail opening day of blackfish. It was very calm, too calm, actually, which made anchoring very difficult. The blackfish action was slow for most, with the exception of Jim Berdini of Waretown, NJ, who won the pool with a 4-lber and had two other keepers. He had a honey hole, which paid off! The fish seem to still be inshore, but with this cold weather upon us, they will be soon be moving into deeper water.
The Barnegat High School Fishing club had a good striper trip on Thursday afternoon. Many nice fish were boated and the kids did a great job snagging bunker and catching some stripers up to 29 lbs. Thanks to Brett Taylor for organizing the trip, it was a blast!
We are sailing Saturdays and Sundays and also the Friday after Thanksgiving. It will be for blackfish, but if we see stripers on the way in we will stop on them. Hope to see you there!
