Captain's Focus

7/14/14: The fishing this week was on and off. With bottom temps still in the low 50s, its hard to get a good bite going again. We still caught a few nice flounder and quite a few sea bass and ling! One really nice fish, which we will all give a big congratulations to Kenny "D" of Philadelphia, PA, who won with a 8.03-lb fluke, and is our new tournament leader! Also, Mike Villanova of Waretown, NJ won with a nice 4-lber, and Jeff Jr. Criswell of Flanders, NJ, beat dad out of the money with a nice 3.5-lber and Dave Eilenberg of Moorestown, NJ won with a nice 4.5-lb flattie. Also, Jim Cryan of Florence, NJ won (again) with a nice 3.5-lb fluke. On a slower day, a nice 3-lb ling won the pool caught by Jeff Bauer of Manahawkin, NJ, hey, some days size does not matter! We will continue the two 4-hour daily fishing trips until right around Labor Day. I would like to thank the families who joined us this past week. A lot of you we recognize from year to year and man, those kids have grown! Hey, a family that fishes together stays together! Thanks for coming. Southwest winds are definitely not our favorite wind. When it blows hard from the south, you get a upwelling of colder water which drops the temperature dramatically. The beach swimmers will let you know that. Either way the water temp means a lot when you're fluking, it can make the bite sluggish or aggressive or not at all (Wish I didn't have to eat when it got cold out! Ha!) We are all looking forward to some good fluking coming up, so we hope to see you there! Gina
