6/22/14: The Carolyn Ann III fishing report is, it's on! With the fluking! We started out sea bassing earlier in the week, which was a little bit of a disappointment, but by Thursday, when we made our first couple drifts, wham! Jim Dunn of Tuckerton, NJ started us off with a nice 4-lb fluke! The pool winners earlier were "Dolphin" Joe of Waretown, NJ with a 3-lb-plus sea bass and John and his wife from Bensalem, PA (on their anniversary) won with a nice 3.8-lb sea bass, and also Tim Lentz of Pittsburgh, PA with a 2.3-lb sea bass. The fluke pool winners were John McIntyre of Hainesport, NJ with a nice 3.8-lb fluke and Wayne Smith of Willingboro, NJ with four nice keepers and the pool winner of 4.1-lbs. Nice start to the season, Wayne! My, we were all so excited on Sunday. Conditions were great in the deeper water, the drift was slow enough to drag or jig the bait in front of the fish, so it gave them enough time to grab it. Grant you the water temp is still cold on the bottom, so you have to give them the bait a little. So happy to see this bite this early in the season! I'm very happy to report that the afternoon charters were the best of the spring season! The first was the Manahawkin Elks, with their annual Veterans Fishing Trip. The weather was wonderful and everyone had a blast! Thanks again to Jerry for the organization of this trip! And a big thanks to Ellis, of the Ocean Air, Hooks and Anchors fishing club, what a great time, even with the drizzling rain it was a good fishing trip. Hope to see your club again soon! On Friday the annual fishing trip with the Ferguson fishing charter was on! Tedra you are awesome! So much fun in so little time, it's not fair! What a fun trip. And Saturday we had a youth group out of Lancaster, PA, and I heard these kids had a fabulous time! Thanks to John Martin, and Brett and his wife for picking our boat to have this event. Hope to see you all again. The drift fishing is on! The start looks very promising. We will keep 6-hour fishing until after the 4th of July (exact date will be determined by fishing). Ha! The fish will make that final decision. Let's sea you there! Gina
