The big question right how involves whether striped bass and bluefish moved on in response to a likely slight drop in water temperatures? There were no surf reports from a very cold morning, and the Gambler from Point Peasant didn't get enough fares down to justify sailing. Capt. Bobby Bogan expects to sail into a better forecast on Thursday. Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant gave Normandy Beach a try this afternoon, but had no hits in a still rough surf. He talked to a couple of anglers fishing in Bay Head with clam that said they had released two 24-inch shorts. I took a look from Point Peasant to Bay Head in the afternoon, but saw few anglers fishing into a rough and dirty surf. Though the wind was supposed to be light southwest, it seemed to be coming from the southeast.The forecast is for light west winds, so participation should be improved tomorrow. There were no morning reports from the Seaside Park tackle shops despite the air temperature improvement.  The Garden State Outdoor Sports Show opens tomorrow in the N.J. Exhibition Center, Edison, and continues though Sunday.
