Needless to say, there were no boat reports Sunday with gale warnings posted and early rain.
The rain stopped early enough to present an opportunity for surfcasters, though the surf was likely rough and dirty. Betty & Nick's in Seaside Park did have a report that was probably from Saturday of a 30-inch striper on an SP Minnow by Lou De Fontney -- plus reports of short bass.
Capt. Stan Zagleski reported blackfish catches from a couple up to limits Friday on his Elaine B. II from Bahrs in Highlands. Jack Tabor of Paramus took the pool with an 8 1/2-pounder. A huge whale put a show on. That boat will sail daily through Thursday.
