As nice as the start of the winter was, we've been taking a beating since then. Though Saturday's northeaster will likely push fishing aside after a nice Friday, it isn't expected to be anything like the storm-force prediction from earlier in the week. Sunday morning may provide a short window before strong west winds arrive.
There are blackfish and cod offshore for those who can get to them, and there's still hope that some stripers may be in the surf. Jerry Lasko of Point Peasant fished briefly at Normandy Beach on Thursday and reported seeing some herring there for awhile.
