It's not often that we get a weekend forecast of light winds and mild temperatures in March, but that's what is predicted. Flounder should be turning on in warming inshore waters, and there's been a decent pick of cod offshore.
Raritan Bay is full of bunkers, and I got a phone message about three larger stripers that were chunked Thursday night from shore off Great Kills. Frank Huza of Aberdeen fished from shore at Keyport that night, and just missed on a keeper with a 27.25-incher. Though there were lots of bunkers around, that bass hit a clam.
