Captain's Focus

04/17/16

It felt good to kick off our 2016 season and we could not have picked a finer weather weekend to do it! We fished both days and had a few fish to take home yesterday and also today. It has been a very tough bite for all of the boats the past several days but our guys were up to the task and worked hard for the fish that they caught. Mike Naipawer, Bloomingdale, NJ, took our first pool of the season yesterday which was also our first fish of the season. Juan Gomez, West Orange, NJ, took the pool today. Although a bit early many of our friends feel that the striped bass are already spawning due to the warm winter. The fishing will return to normal when the fish are done doing their business.

The 2016 LEGAL BAG LIMIT for striped bass in NJ is one fish between 28" and 43" with a second fish 43" or larger. There are no bonus tags for a third fish in the spring.
