Seas had gotten nicer so I gave the charter an option to sprint to the Hudson and fish a few Hours which they jumped on Started on the pots and got some nice gaffer mahi, first ones of the year. Then went on the troll getting 2 Yellowfin right away, after an hour of no luv went back to the mahi and got some more to end the day.
Started out on yellowfins Inside of the canyon popping a couple of cherries Early, once that dried up continued to the canyon Checked many places but no luv, hit the pots and They were barren. After that headed Back to where we had the yellows but no luv for us.
Started out looking for schoolies since it was 2 of the guys first Tuna run. Made our way to the grounds and patiently Waited for our shot and it came and the guys made it Count.
Stayed with bluefin for an hour and couldn t get another Bite. Decided to head to the canyon got to the edge and heard Slow fishing on the tuna so we dropped for Tiles.
Had new Customer Scott with buddies John, Mike And Sean, netted our bait and went looking, found Plenty of marks, but no fish chewing, got a heads up From Derrick and finally found some fish, popping the guys cherries with 45 inch fish.
Gave the boys the decision To stay in the bay or roll the dice and run down the Beach for some bigger fish then finish in the bay Later, obvious answer!Ran back to the bay and caught and Released another half dozen unders on popping plugs!
Afternoon trip Had Don Erickson and Son and livelined and plugged the bass where we left in the morning. Congrats to TJ Erickson popping his Striper cherry.
