There was a good number of Bluefins and along with some Yellowfins caught today on quite a few different 20 and 30 fathom lumps so there are a lot of choices on where to fish. We have now released over 20 Bluefins this past week and everyone of them were at least 60-70 lbs plus and a few well over 100 lbs On today s trip we had multiple hook ups on a few different occasions so now is the time to get out if you want a chance to do battle with 100 lb plus tuna with a boat ride under 2 hours.
With not much happening for us on the troll we decided to go to plan B which was to drop some jigs down to see what would happen because at various times we had seen some great tuna and bait marks right along the bottom. We ended up with 8 nice Bluefin all over 50 inches and we kept our legal one that weighed 78 pounds.
We were anticipating the warmer weather 2 weeks ago and last week to bust the striper fishing wide open, but within the area we reguarly fish, that has not happened just yet. Due to the lack of fish, we have opted to postpone a few charters and cancel our open boat trips.
We will be running open boat and regular 6 person striper charter trips on the custom Carolina Hooked Up II starting April 15th. If you are a single or small party, contact us to be put on the list for an open boat trip or if you have 6 people book a regular charter for Spring Stripers or Black Drum.
Two Day Only Special!Capt. Kobey is offering a Cabin Fever Special for Striped Bass on the Delaware Bay Cape May N. J There is supposed to be some warmer weather forecasted for Fri Saturday 3 30-31 finally, and the fish should start snapping!
We will be running reduced price open boat striper trips from on March 21-31 with Captain Kobey along with our regular mates Vinny and Ray crewing the Hooked Up II. If you are a single or small party, contact Capt Kobey or mate Vinny to book a spot on an open boat trip.
Overall tough conditions on the bay yesterday, but it was good to wet a line even though the striper fishing was slow overall on Sunday morning for us. This was just a fun trip with my crew and friends, but we plan on starting to run regular and open boat striper charters sometime in the next week or so when the water warms up a few degrees, so if your looking to book a charter, contact us.
With his excellent background and extensive experience we welcome Captain Kobey to our charter business and along with regular mates Vinny and Ray, I am betting the trophy stripers do not have much of a chance this coming spring season. As many of you already know Capt Kobey and mate Vinny worked together for a number of years in the past when they fished together on Captain Kobey s charter boat the Bunkerhead and were without question one of the top charter boats in South Jersey when it came to catching super large trophy stripers.
