HEAT WAVE Fluke fishing - The Elks of Edison enjoyed a warm day on the water with friends and family. We managed 8 keeper fluke for the day, it doesn't sound like much but the keepers numbers are slowly improving.
Dawn and the South River Gang which included Captain Carl were aboard for a hot one today. It was just weird today, we landed about 60 shorts which was slower than the last few days and only managed a handful of keepers.
Fishing Report Thursday 7-11 North Plainfield Fire enjoy a steady pick of shorts with a handful of keepers mixed in. As usual fishing was much better when the conditions where good and the bite slowed in the afternoon when the wind and tide opposed each other.
Fishing has and still is dominated by shorts. We fished Coney Island the flats and the Coney Island channel and East of East Bank rip, 99 of the fish landed were shorts.
July 4th Open Boat - better numbers as far as keepers go compared to the two previous trips but fishing remains slow. Thomas Kaz from Neshanic Station took control of the Misty Morn Master with a pool fish weighing 5lbs 14 oz.
