Many nice fish were boated and the kids did a great job snagging bunker and catching some stripers up to 29 lbs. It will be for blackfish, but if we see stripers on the way in we will stop on them.
Instead of just Sunday we have to decided to go striper fishing on Saturday, and blackfishing on Sunday (which is the opening of the blackfish season, where you can keep 6 instead of just one). Why couldn't they open the season on Sat After Nov. 16, we will continue to sail just weekends for blackfish though Nov. and Dec. (weather permitting, of course).
There were a few sea bass around plus a few trigger fish, ask Greg Witalec of Philadelphia, PA, who won with a 3-lb trigger, and Ben Martin of Manahawkin, NJ, who also won with a 3. The sea bass season this fall would have been great, if it wasn't for the bad weather.
8-lb trigger fish, and Jerry Farley of Tabernacle, NJ tied with another fishermen (sorry didn't get your name) with a 3-lb sea bass. The fish seemed to have scattered out and the big groups of fish were not there.
Sunday was extremely windy so we only sailed for 4 hours, the fishing was slow and it was a wise choice to cut the day short. Please check the weather, and pick a nice day to come.
9 30 14 The last week of fluke season was pretty disappointing. The last day and the lucky winner was Jule Majesky of Haven Beach, NJ, who not only caught the pool winner, weighing in at 2 lbs, but it was the only keeper on board!
6-lb fluke caught by John (Cheeseman) Weber of Beach Haven West, NJ, who won the pool, and a beautiful 7-lber caught by Jack Conlan of Bristol, PA. John Snyder of Haven Beach, NJ won with a nice 5-lb flattie and Glen Storm of Manahawkin, NJ won with a 6-lber.
9 14 14 Let's start backwards yesterday (Sunday) was the beginning of last week, due to the horrible weather earlier. I'm not going to discuss too much of last week, but what I could gather is, if you catch a snapper blue, sea robin, or any other bait fish, fillet it and put it on!
