Unfortunately, the best we could find were shorts and a handful of keepers like everyone else. Brian Karasik, South River, NJ, ended up with a couple of keepers which included the pool fish.
A few of the guys wound up with two and three fish each and we ended the day with five gallery fish between 5 and 7 pounds in the mix!!Pete Burrows, Hillsdale, NJ, took the pool with a 6 pound 10 ounce fish which just beat out a 6 pound 8 ounce fish caught by John Gadomski, Staten Island, NY.
He had his limit which included fish of 4 pounds 10 ounces, 5 pounds 11 ounces and a 6 pound 8 ounce fish which took the pool!Sam Ingallinesi, Pompton Lakes, NJ, ended up with four quality fish up to 4 pounds.
Doug Kay, Union Beach, NJ, had a limit which included 2 identical 5 pound 5 ounce fish. Carmine Rutledge, Newark, NJ, also made the gallery page with a nice 5 pound 6 ounce fish of his own.
Fishing was just a pick for the guys today everywhere we stopped with some nice sized fish in the mix once again. A number of the guys ended up with two and three nice fish each.
Stefan Stefanov, Bedminster, NJ, took the pool with a VERY NICE 8 pound11 ounce fish which he caught early in the day. Steve Han, Berkeley Heights, gave Stefan a good run later in the day with an 8 pound 6 ounce beauty of his own!!
Started where we did yesterday morning and had wind against tide and very few bites. Went to where we finished up yesterday and had a pretty decent morning on the first several drifts with both keepers and short action until the bite finally petered out to a slow pick the last part of the day.
The 2014 fluke opener turned out nicely for the nice gang we had onboard today with AL WARANIS BAGGING THE FIRST NJ PARTY BOAT LIMIT BY 11 AM!!!Greg Barnett, Trenton, NJ and Wayne Pinder, Red Bank, NJ, ended the day with four keepers each, Jim Lohse, Union, NJ had three and there were a bunch of other keepers spread around the boat.
We wrapped up our seabass fishing today and will now be FLUKE FISHING every day starting tomorrow!!On Memorial Day (MONDAY) we start sailing at our normal 7 30 AM every day for the rest of the fluke season!!
Seabass fishing was a little slower for us than yesterday but there were practically no throwbacks with almost all of the fish being keepers. Teddy from South River, NJ, took the pool with a big seabass.
