It was a breezy start this morning but the wind died out early on making for a very nice day on the blackfish grounds. The guys had steady fishing all day on a single drop and wound up with a nice catch of fish up to 6 pounds for their efforts.
There were guys with five keepers, four on down with most having at least one or two to take home. Better than yesterday for sure but still not the togging that makes US happy!
A good group of fishermen came out to take advantage of the nice weather on the opening day of the NJ blackfish season. We had good anchoring conditions most of the day and tried a bunch of different areas all with the same results.
Starting tomorrow (Saturday), November 16, the NJ Blackfish limit goes up to 6 fish per person and we will be sailing at 7 00 AM DAILY through the end of the year with our attention being focused on Mr. Whitechin!!It will be great to finally be able to keep the same blackfish that the NY boats have been taking from NJ state waters for the past month!!
Nice weather and mixed bag fishing once again today!Made three drops on the day and had the porgies on each for the guys who wanted them along with mixed size seabass and an easy boat limit of nice sized blackfish up to 6 pounds.
The wind is forecast to diminish tonight and turn into the west for the next three days making for very nice conditions inshore where we have been fishing lately! There have been some nice porgies around for the guys who still want some.
We made three drops for the day and had good mixed bag fishing for the fellas. The last drop in the same area gave up almost all keeper blackfish on green crabs allowing everyone to box their one legal tog up to 6 pounds.
The first drop was best for the guys fishing in the bow and consisted mainly of keeper blackfish with a few seabass and porgies mixed in. Everyone was able to add their one keeper blackfish to the bags of filets they took home.
