08 12 16 We went right back to where we had our good fishing on Thursday and found a few fish once again before the current slowed down. Unfortunately, even on the slack and change of tides the lines steamed away from the boat and the fish did not turn on well like we had hoped.
Started the day where we have been fishing and had a few fish before the current slowed down. Once it did the guys started to bang away at mixed size fish which continued for the rest of the day.
Had a few shorts and a couple of keepers until we got the change of tide early this morning. A bunch of the guys ended up with two, three or four keepers each.
There has been a nice mix of keepers and shorts in areas where there were no fish just a week ago so the fish are moving around as would be expected right now. Weather looks nice all week.
Once we got the change of tide and a nice drift the guys picked away at a nice mix of keepers and shorts until it was time to come home. The faster the drift got the better the fish began to bite.
Ten year old Andrew Lipinski, Washington, NJ, showed all of the veterans how it is done by taking the pool!We would like to thank EVERYONE, including Tony THE FLUKEMAN and Loraine, Ernie, Mel and Ken, Michelle and John, Joe and Cathy, Jack, Pete, and Dr John who supplied FIVE STAR culinary treats to the entire gang for our annual August 6 gala (held on the 5th this year because of the weekend) as well as to everyone else--you know who you are- who made this year's bash second to none!!
We had some keepers first thing this morning before we lost the drift. Ended the day with a much better keeper to short ratio than the past few days with some quality fish.
The guys and gals worked hard and were able to put some nice fish in the coolers to show for their efforts. Long time EB II regular Al Waranis, Trenton, NJ, celebrated his 93rd birthday fishing with a bunch of his EB II friends today and was able to take a couple of nice fish home for dinner.
Found plenty of short action everywhere but not as many keepers as we have been having recently. Natural baits definitely had the advantage today with the keepers.
Had a 15 minute shower during the day but it did not cause anyone to melt and the fish did not mind. Had nice conditions all day with a light wind against the current to slow the drift.
