Due to extremely high winds, we hugged tight to the beach the entire time and even headed in a bit earlier (before dark) than usual. I think as soon as the next few days of high winds pass we are going to be in for some awesome fishing.
Based on second and third hand information the Winter Flounder are not cooperating for those few who are trying to catch them. I did however, overhear a conversation of a fella complaining that he only caught 1 Winter Flounder but caught 13 Bluefish.
I would expect some tide-runner Weakfish to start being caught in another week or so, and the Bluefish shortly thereafter. The large Weakfish are not great to eat anyway.
That does not mean that the fish are not there, but NO ONE is fishing for them . Even if not true, it won't be but a few weeks before the Bluefish will arrive en masse.
As many of you know, one of the first watched fishing reports of the year is when the first keeper (and fish) is caught at Graveling Point. The snow pack (read my previous report), this storm, cold water, etc.
I am more concerned with the remaining impact and how it could influence early Spring Bay Fishing. And all that cold ice melt water entering the Bay has a double affect playing havoc on the water temps and dirtying up the water along the way.
