For the fourth year in a row we were lucky and fortunate enough to place into some major money in one of the East Coast s Major Tournaments including a three year in a row run at the MidAtlantic putting us at over 1. 1 million in tuna winnings in 4 years. The Canyon Runner Team this year headed up by Capt. Deane Lambros at the helm of our 48 Viking - enjoyed another very fun, very eventful and very successful week at the MidAtlantic Tournament. You can bet we ll have both Canyon Runner boats back in the 25th Anniversary MidAtlantic next year. In the end, this was a huge team effort as it extended well beyond the 4 crew members on the boat in particular Capt. Phil Dulanie and Carl Geiger have to be mentioned as with 2 boats running full time it takes all of our guys to keep the boats and the tackle in tip top shape.

FINALLY - the boys didn't have to run all the way down to the Wilmington two trips in a row now. Capt. Phil's 5 8 on big-eye trip was up the line a little bite from the Wilmington Tuesday (finally got the pictures up here below) and the 48 Viking is coming back right now from the notches slightly closer to home with a mess of longfin and stories of big-eyes loved then lost. I think they are sitting on an even dozen longfin.

Phil Dulanie, with Kevin Muller and Craig Angelini put together a solid trip with the John Lindal charter fishing Monday for only 8 hours on the troll they nailed 5 big-eyes out of 8 hooked in total, 5 longfin a bunch of mahi. Craig Angelini, Kevin Muller and Evan Millas the end of last week and a handful of yellowfin. Even Capt. Deane Lambros and Adam LaRosa got into the mix while blue marlin fishing (pre-fishing for the Blue Marlin World Cup Thursday).

Capt. Philly Dulanie back at it after his back was out of it and he sat at the dock in his recliner chair for two weeks. He's running the 60 Ritchie Howell today. Didn't take him long to show us all why he's still the best of the best I've ever seen or fished with - just wish I could turn back the clock on him and have the 50 year old Philly and not the one looking at 70 but getting old is better than the alternative. Anyway - he was back on the edge for a mere 2 hours when he went 4 for 4 on big-eyes fishing in a spot with no one around nor anyone would have thought held big-eyes.

As mentioned below the Canyon Runner Dredge was a big hit with the big-eyes last night. The side of the boat with the white dredge had all 5 bites and they even switched sides once and only trolled one dredge for a while while cleaning up and all bites came on the dredge side with the white dredge. The 48 Viking with Capt. Evan Millias and Kevin Muller had a big-eye of their own and added a few very nice yellowfin and mahi to round out there trip. That's 18 big-eyes for June - 8 more than we ever did before in any year. We are hoping to go back out tomorrow if the winds slack off overnight so hopefully the fish are still there.

Woops - should have waited until the morning until that last post - 3 more big-eyes on the deck right now with each boat fighting another. The 60 is pulling a double dredge of our Canyon Runner Squid Dredges and have had 5 big-eyes on in the last 2 hours - been begging them to get them out on every trip on that boat as it has the LP Reels rigged and ready to go and now that Capt. Deane is in command they are finally doing it.

Both charters were happy but boy would we have loved to stay as the big-eyes are going to snap tonight. Anyway - I guess the happiest charter was Dr. John Bednar as Capt. Phil Dulanie, Craig Angelini and Evan Millas put him on two nice big-eyes as part of a double header - the bigger one below is 71 and probably wieghed 200-210.

It s most like due to two reason 1) our Warriors don t seek the headlines when they have issues these are men and women who act selflessly and don t ask for thanks or help and, 2) As Colonel Nathan R. Jessep stated we can t handle the truth! . we don t want to know just how hard our Warriors have it, how much they and their families sacrifice and just how many sacrifice with their lives. Our warriors provide us the ability to rise and sleep under the blanket of freedom we owe them everything and it s time we all start contributing to making their lives better in every way.

3 more big-eyes in the boat tonight for the two boats and they are still up on the troll. 8 for Capt. Deane Lambros and Evan Milas. 50 50 we get back out tomorrow but looks like Thursday to Saturday is good weather so hopefully a few more will come our way with some luck. Canyon Runner Margarita Bars (Yellowfin Mini-Green Machine Bars) and Reel Seat White Glow mini-green machines bars are doing a number on the fish in the last few days. Both boats caught about 20 yellowfin today too - half decent size half rats.

Trolling 6 Canyon Runner Spreader Bars, Canyon Runner Dredges, several Joe Shutes with ballys and a few Melton Cherry Jets they had the fish up around 730pm and put a nice 71 210 pound big-eye in the boat. This one came on a Canyon Runner Yellowfin Runner lure (the manufacturer of the heads happened to be on the boat today) and is around 150 pounds. Looks like there are plenty of fish around so don't delay in trying to get out there - there is no guarantee this type of fishing lasts all year. Finally - I have only 1 spot left in our Canyon Runner Fishing Report Service for any New Jersey boats - please do not hesitate to call me ASAP if you want in.
