Putting the reel in freespool, the fish picks up the bait and charges off, dumping a few hundered yards off a Penn International 50VSW against 24 lbs of drag. They made their way back to the 100 fathom line and saw a slow pick develop into a fairly steady bite for two hours, going 7 for 12 on nice yellowfin.
We put out an assortment of 9 inch Canyon Runner squid bars, ballyhoo, and jets in the vicinity of 26725 42150. We heard several boats starting to catch near the 42250 line in 70 fathoms.
10 minutes after lines in, a nice bluefin crushed the 9 inch Squid bar in the tip rigger and the Penn International 50W was screaming!4 of the 5 bites were on 9 inch Canyon Runner Squid Bars and the other on a skirted ballyhoo on the short rigger.

The Crew of the Canyon Runner rung in the New Year at the New York Boat Show and had a great time seeing all our customers and meeting a bunch of new ones. Our standard rods will come in black and gold with diamond wraps all the up through the first guide.
They went right were they left off at the East Elbow and went straight to the chunk amongst the draggers, as the second rod was being let out it was ripped out of Mark's hands. As the weather cooperated tonight, they decided to put it on the drift and put a few more yellowfin and longfin in the boat before midnight with one of the longfin pushing a little over 70 pounds.
Due to the crowd, the decided to run 5 miles east of 100 square where they caught them the previous nights. Once the anchor came tight, they had there first shot of fish come through the slick and put 5 longfin in the boat.
