Capt. Mark and Dean took the 48 Canyon Runner for an open boat trip Thursday to Friday and not for the lack of effort as they covered the entire Hudson Canyon they only came up with 1 Yellowfin and a few mahis.
If you haven t added these 12 Canyon Runner Squid Bars or these dredges to your arsenal you are missing out we ve been using them for 2 years now and they have proven deadly on the big-eyes and all other tunas for that matter. B Reports 48 Viking 7 3-4 No Tunas a few Mahis B We took out 6 of Americas finest out on our annual FREE Military Veterans trip and they didn t get what they deserved as the fishing was not what is was the last time we had gotten out over a week prior.
Capt. Mark was on the 60 Ritchie with the Stanley Wyka charter and ran to the Hudson as the water to the south was off the bank in 1000 fathoms and we never catch tuna when the water is that deep. Capt. Mark had 11 solid hook ups but due to several issues only brought 3 yellowfin to the boat - they were better quality fish and a couple that were lost were in the 60-75 class (one was actually right next to the boat so we knew the size).
June 25-26 - 2 Bluefin, 1 Longfin Capt. Deane Lambros, Capt. Greg Ryback and Mate Peter Kane left for an overnighter at 4am Tuesday morning with an open boat trip. Getting up on the troll in the morning they trolled till 11am with nothing to show for it they pulled the plug and headed for the barn.
June 23-24 12 Yellowfin Capt Mark Debaliso, Capt Deane Lambros and Capt. Craig Angellini all jumped on our 60 foot Ritchie Howell there Mark and Deane's 4th overnighter in row with the Chris Ivarone charter. Capt Mark said that he felt confident that given some more time he could have caught more.
As such they put it on the troll at 4am and trolled 16 yellow fins up to 45 pounds. This trip was mostly a morning a bite which was pretty strong fishing up until 930am when the bite slowed up.
The bigger yellowfin ate Canyon Runner Mamba bars and the rest came on Mini-Mamba Canyon Runner bar and our new 12 Squid Bars were getting attached much of the trip. Mark was also trolling a couple of our Canyon Runner Squid Dredges - and the boys won't leave home without them anymore! After the night set in they ran 40 miles inshore and quickly had a big mako on - unfortunately this one came undone so they spent the rest of the night catching and releasing 9 blue sharks and a dusky.
Capt. Mark DeBlasio and Capt. Dean Lambros will fill in some details once they get the boats cleaned up and get us pictures later tonight but Sunday started off the beginning of our 2013 Canyon season with both boats headed 100 miles from Manasquan Inlet to find 70 degree water and the first big-eyes of our NJ season (we already caught a couple back in March in NC) along with yellowfin, bluefin, mahi and makos. Capt. Dean mentioned that our new Canyon Runner Squid Dredges were red hot with the bluefins actually following the dredges up to the boat and staying under them as we were fighting the fish.
Sunday saw the John Dale charter fishing the 60 Ritchie and enjoyed bass up at the Rocks with 9 for the day and a bunch that pulled off. Monday saw both boats fishing a morning trip with the Mike Graziano charter out with Capt. Dean on the 48 Viking and Lou Ottrando charter out on the 60 Ritchie with Capt. Dean.
