The fishing has been good, early last week and then again on Saturday, we saw Sea Bass action as good as you could ask for constant action, several very nice sized fish, and folks landing limit or near limit catches. Capt. H. D. ran the special Sea Bass trip out to the twenty mile wrecks on Saturday and even though the Ocean was best described as a big washing machine with the heavy swells and moderate northeast winds chopping up on the surface, the fishing was outstanding with the majority of his small group landing a limit of nice sized Sea Bass.

On Sunday we had more decent Tog fishing early on in the day but the wind would come up strong against the tide mid day making for a long long afternoon with just a few more fish going to the boxes by the end of the trip. I will continue running seven days a week with my regular Full-Day trips anchoring over wrecks and reefs fishing for the Sea Bass and the Tog, departure time is at 7 00a.

We actually have had more decent weather over the past seven days than we have had bad weather for a change, and we were able to take full advantage of it on a few different occasions allowing us to have seen some of the best Tog fishing so far for the fall season. I was able to get away from the docks five out of the last seven days this past week and each trip we had somewhat fair to very good action with the Tog.

In the past few weeks we have had more dock time than we have had fishing time with boats all tied up to their piers waiting for a break in the nonstop wind. I did manage to get out a few days this past week and every trip met with a fairly good Tog bite.

Mother Nature imposed a natural causes closure on her fish for the last of September and into early October and now after five days in a row of some of what I would call very good to outstanding Sea Bass fishing, we are now dealing with yet another type of closure all together, and this is one is much harder to swallow than that of the bad weather we endured for a solid week. We finally got the long awaited break in the weather during the middle of last week and we have been able to fish the last several days in a row on the Sea Bass with huge success.

Throughout most of the week since my last report however we were out every day and I would have to call the fishing pretty good with the Sea Bass. We will still have a couple good weeks to get in on the Sea Bass action before the closure and I expect some really good fishing once the season reopens in November, it will be a short break.

After a full summer of mostly drift fishing for Flounders, with the weather patterns and the passing fronts and moderate winds that we have been seeing lately, I'm going to have to say that the majority of our fishing from now on out until the end of the year will be mostly anchor fishing over shipwrecks and artificial reefs targeting primarily the Sea Bass. These Flounder will continue to feed around the wrecks and artificial reefs while fattening up for their offshore migration for several more weeks and we will happily accept them as a bonus by-catch while fishing for the Bass until the season comes to an end.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report September 15, 2010 Another Fine week of fishing here at the Wharf as far as I am concerned, as with typical end of summer and early fall fishing just about everything that you would expect to see and to catch at this time of the year has been right on schedule. As it stands our Sea Bass season is scheduled for about a two week closure starting the second week in October right about the same time that our Flounder season comes to a close for the year.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report September 08, 2010 In spite of a few days with less than favorable conditions and the near miss of the swift passing hurricane Earl at the end of this past week, I would have to call my last week of fishing here at the Wharf pretty good with my All-Day trips. The Flounder fishing was showing real signs of improvement, Sea Bass were biting good just about every day and the Snapper Blues and Croakers started to show up all over the old grounds providing some good fish catching action!

For a bright note our Sea Bass fishing has seen a vast improvement recently, in fact a few times this past week they actually bit the way Sea Bass should and we were able to rack up some pretty decent numbers of these tasty fish providing a good meal or two for just about everyone on board, in fact there have been a few lucky anglers that have actually landed into double digits of keeper Bass just these past few days. We even saw several large to Jumbo Bass landed with the pool winning fish having been a Sea Bass over a Flounder on a couple of our trips recently! It's hard to say what happened to our Flounder and Croaker fishing if I could figure that out it is likely that I wouldn't be doing this for a living!
