I think we will continue to see fish gathering around the structures for several more weeks before they spread out over the open bottom and hopefully there will continue to be enough of big fish to keep it worth our while anchoring over these types of bottom if not we will switch gears and start concentrating on drifting the open bottom of the old grounds where we will see a mix with both Sea Bass and Flounder but I don t expect to drift fish for at least a few more weeks. I will continue sailing daily with the All-Day trips fishing over wrecks and reefs for the Sea Bass.

Fishing a little further offshore on Friday and trying several different depths we had a nice mix with both Tautog and Sea Bass and by days end most anglers had a healthy cooler with some very impressive fish including several citation sized Sea Bass. Top hooks Saturday would land double-digits to mid teens with keeper sized Sea Bass however the majority of folks had much less and some anglers didn t have much to show at all by the end of the day for all of the fish that they had caught.

With some fairly light winds and a big ground swell we ventured off to the Sea Bass grounds and did manage to put together a little catch, but by days end the keeper fish just didn t add up the way they had for us a few times last week. I will continue sailing daily anchor fishing over wrecks, rocks and reefs with the regular All-Day trips and we will target both Tautog and or the Sea Bass until the Tog closure next week.

It is possible that if the weather is questionable we may fish just for the Tog close to home, but for the most part I anticipate a mix with more and more Sea Bass each Day we are able to run a little further. As for what you might expect in the next few weeks I will continue sailing daily with the All-Day trips fishing over wrecks and artificial reefs for Sea Bass and Tautog.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman s Wharf Fishing Report April 21, 2009 Pretty good weekend of fishing here at the Wharf as far as I am concerned, great weather and biting fish dominated the weekend allowing for some rod bending action and lots of smiling faces all the way around. I had a pretty good idea that after some of the conditions that we had endured last weekend while still managing to catch some nice fish that all we needed was a little break in the weather and we would see some fabulous fishing for the Tog.

The Tog bit pretty well too Friday morning, a few anglers made quick work of their spring limits before conditions changed and the fish seemed to shut off as the day progressed. Sea Bass should be starting to trickle a little closer to the beach every day now, I actually saw a few little Bass caught over the weekend again right in the mouth of the Delaware Bay along with the Tog and on Friday we caught our first keeper Flounder for the 2009 season.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman s Wharf Fishing Report April 7, 2009 March winds continued into April causing yet another cancellation of our long-range trip this past weekend but we were still able to get away from the docks a couple times to fish inshore for the Tog. Some of our best Tile fishing last spring was during the months of April and May and these trips will continue to be your best bet for the Sea Bass for a few more weeks.

A private charter is still the best option though with these early Stripers because you can dedicate the whole day for these fish where as with the regular headboat trips I will be trying to concentrate fishing mostly over the wrecks for the Tog and will just take the Stripers as a bonus when we can. I am going to continue with the short schedule for a couple more weeks running just Friday s through Monday s anchoring over wrecks fishing for Tog on the Full-Day trip, departure time is 7 00 a. m We will resume running seven days a week around the last week of April unless some Mackerel show up within striking distance during the next couple weeks.

Top hooks on this trip would struggle just to make it past double digits with fish and low hooks only had a few or would be looking for a fish market on their ride home for a fresh fish supper!Currents like we encountered this past weekend are really not all that uncommon on these trips we have seen them before fortunately they rarely run like this for more than a few days before they settle back to normal. Remember our Full Day trips will resume this weekend departing the docks at 7 00 a. m. and returning at around 4 00 p. m. fishing over wrecks for Tautog.
