Here we are now past the midway mark of the month of July and as far as I am concerned we have been enjoying some of the best Flounder fishing action that you can find, the offshore action continues to be on fire with the Tuna, and the long-range deep drops continue to produce coolers full of fish for those that have been making the journey with Capt. H. D. With my all day trips over the past week we have endured just about every imaginable situation with winds and drifts or lack of either, and we have still managed to land the biggest number of keepers of any week so far this season. This has been the finest kind of Tuna fishing that you can ever imagine and with the water temperatures being the way they are right now these fish should stick around for a while providing plenty more opportunity to get in on the action if you are interested in booking a trip right now.

For about a week now we have enjoyed the clean water where you can see your fish or your rig down as deep as maybe forty feet from the surface and we have also seen surface temperatures as warm as 81 degrees on the fishing grounds. I don't know quite what to make of the water temperature readings being so warm so early in the year and I'm certain that a lot of this is due to the recent heat wave, however the surface temp just today (7 9) on the fishing grounds was still a very warm 79 degrees and that reading was without the presence of any sun.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report June 28th 2012 Since my last report we have seen some of the finest and we have seen some of the toughest Flounder fishing that we have encountered since we started with the drift fishing program just a few short weeks ago, and even on the toughest of days we managed to see a few quality fish at the rail along with some decent throwback action at times. Capt. Mike has spent most of his time on the lower end of the Delaware Bay with his Half-Day trips and he has been seeing a nice variety catch with the usual assortment of Junkfish along with a few keeper Flounders, Trout and Kingfish.

Sea Bass, Red Hake (ling cod) and even a good number of nice Codfish filled up nearly everyone's coolers by the end of the day and just about everyone was worn out from reeling in fish from the 20 plus fathoms of water. Our Half-Day trips continue to struggle with keepers however the action has been really good at times for the Jr. anglers catching Sandsharks, spike sized Trout and various other assortments of inshore fish including Blowfish, Flounder and Kings.

I plan on giving some Fluke fishing an honest try when the conditions are right in the immediate future, we should be able to see a nice mix bag catch with some Sea Bass and a few nice Flounder while drifting the hard bottoms right now. Capt. H. D. had another fairly successful Long-Range Trip over the holiday weekend, while conditions were not necessarily the best for what they were trying to do, they managed a nice variety catch with both Blueline and Golden Tilefish as well as a couple nice Wreckfish, a few Sea Bass and a Bonus Jumbo Grouper for their deep drop efforts.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report May 21st 2012 After many weeks of lobbying and fighting for just a measly three days for an opening day of our Sea Bass season to start on Saturday May19th instead of on the 22nd, late Friday on the 18th we finally got the official word that we would indeed be able to start our 2012 Sea Bass season on Saturday the 19th. We did make it out on Saturday for the Bass and other than a somewhat miserable Ocean and a disappointing Sea Bass bite in the swells, it was good to be able to get away from the docks and actually land and keep some fish for a change, we were even happy to release one of the biggest Tautog that I have seen in a long time with an official release of an 18 pound brute on the last stop of the day!

In a way I think I will be happy when the spring Tog season comes to an end, there has been just so much pressure put on these fish since last fall they seem to have really taken a beating and with the minimum size limit at 16 inches now other than an exceptional bite, finding keeper fish has become somewhat of a chore. Throw in the wind, some fog, strong currents and a very finicky biting fish, and at times it has been a stretch calling what we have been doing fun!We did have our moments however, we were able to see several personal bests with the Tog, a few limits here and there and even a couple of bonus Stripers that happened to eat a crab at a very inopportune moment.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report April 24th, 2012 Not a whole lot to report this past week for me on the fishing scene I only managed to get out a couple trips over the weekend with the poor weather we had in our area. Friday I started out in the mouth of the Bay for the change of current and on our first stop in some deeper water we were only able to catch a couple of throwback fish.

Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report Fisherman's Wharf Fishing Report April 17th, 2012 We had some really decent weather over the past weekend and along with this nice weather we saw some pretty good Tog fishing too!Striper action up in the Bay was for some unknown reason just about non existent through the latter part of last week and through the weekend, the bait seems to be around but none of the heavy hitters that target these fish this time of the year have had much luck locating any numbers of these fish for several days now.

With Northeast to North and then finally Northwest winds blowing with way too much force early on over the weekend, even inshore fishing was a bust on Friday and we were forced to scrub the deep drop Tile trip for Saturday with the offshore winds still blowing in excess of 25 knots. We did get out both Saturday and Sunday fishing inshore for the Tog however production was way down for Saturday's trip with the residual winds, moon tides and currents, along with some very murky water in the mouth of the Bay.
