With the scup season closing at the end of the month, the Jamaica from Brielle has added trips to far offshore wrecks in order to get in the last shots at that species until the summer.  There is room on the trip leaving at 2 a.m. for Washington's Birthday. Call 732 528-5014 for reservations on the $140 trip. The last regularly scheduled trip is next Saturday at 2 a.m., but another has been added for Sunday at the same time to conclude the season. Capt. The pool winners were:1st place: Mike Marist from Farmingdale NY with a limit of jumbo porgies and a 12lb cod2nd: Lonnie Thorn, 25 jumbo porgies and an 8lb cod Some passengers catching limits were: John He, Philadelphia, PAMark Thompson, Richmond, VaVince Mancuso from Brick,Jake Coniglio from Brick,Mario Ramirez from Langhorne, PA The water temperature offshore is still up around 50 degrees and the fish do not show any signs of leaving. It looks good for upcoming trips."  The Ocean Explorer from Belmar had a nice day on the ocean Saturday with good bottom life to keep everyone working at it as two legal blackfish were hooked along with a few shorts, some cod and a jigged pollock. Sunday was even nicer, and there were four tog up to 8 pounds boated. A few short tog, cod, ling, mackerel and one pollock were added. That boat will be fishing on Washington's Birthday -- and the weather looks generally good this week with mostly sunny skies, mild temperatures and light winds until some rain Friday.
