Atlantic Highlands stripe bass fishing April 14

Made both morning (8am to 12:30 )Â and afternoon ( 1:30 to 6pm)Â trips today for stripe bass. On the morning trip the weather was great. We had a few bites but only caught a short and one keeper stripe bass. On the afternoon trip the wind picked up from the east and it got cold. The fishing was no good with only a couple of bites for the afternoon. The weather for tomorrow is for gale force winds and possibly on Monday also with rain so we will not be fishing. As of now Tuesday looks like the next nice day. Hopefully the weather and the fishing will both improve. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

Phil Fischer said he was trolling bass in Raritan Bay yesterday morning before moving into Sandy Hook Bay where two 30-pounders hit.

Posted on May 13, 2020 Poor start to Sandy Hook surfcasting Allen Riley and Duke Matero made their first Sandy Hook surfcasting effort of the year this morning, and had pretty good conditions with a calm surf and enough water. The largest from shore was a 34-incher, and a 29-inch bass from shore was the largest released with a tag.

Posted on May 12, 2020 Blowout tides limit surfcasting Gusty northwest winds have resulted in both near-record low morning temperatures and blowout tides making for poor dawn and dusk surf fishing However, John Bushell Jr. at Betty Nick s in Seaside Park reported the release of a 25-pound striper by one of his customers a couple of days ago. Though some all-time low temperatures for the date may be set in the morning, there should be a big change after that.

Posted on April 23, 2020April 23, 2020 Striper bite continues in Raritan Bay Dave Lilly of Hazlet trolled up stripers in Raritan Bay again today, though it wasn t as easy as it had been. Lilly decided to head east from Keyport and never had a hit all the way to Romer Shoal before running to the back of the bay where about a dozen bass in the 34-35-inch class were trolled in 16-foot depths on Tony Maja 3-ounce mo-jos.
