Normally, a NE wind is the worst thing for anglers -- but bottom fishing is so poor now that the Ocean Explorer from Belmar is looking forward to it tomorrow as it may shake up the present dead fishery. Only a few short blackfish were caught during Saturday's quest for big tog in deeper waters, and most areas were completely dead in Sunday's rain.
The Big Mohawk didn't fish today, but they are looking to Tuesday if the snow possibility is minor. The Golden Eagle was going to seek mackerel today, but only reported they won't be doing so Monday -- and won't until mackerel show up.
Nothing great though but we felt out the ground and have a good idea where to try tomorrow! We did catch a FEW nice size Blackfish. If you do come with us tomorrow please stop by the local tackle stores if you would like White Crabs.
The Ocean Explorer from Belmar had been looking at lighter winds on Sunday as a possible opportunity to seek out more of the very large blackfish they've hooked during recent trips. However, the forecast of dangerous wind chill even after winds moderate by morning convinced them to stay in port on Sunday.
