1000's of NJ Saltwater Fishing Reports, Dozens of Sources, Maps, Wrecks, Historical Search

The Ocean Explorer got out Monday from Belmar, but encountered northeast winds and very picky bottom fishing on relatively inshore grounds as it was too rough to go further offshore. There were a few legal blackfish and some shorts, but the Ocean Explorer is expecting better results offshore in lighter winds on Tuesday. Sunday's porgy fishing on the Jamaica from Brielle was slower than expected due to strong currents, but there were catches of up to 25 to 30 scup along with a few ling -- and several weakfish. The weaks weren't large, as the pool went to a 4-pound porgy boated by Robert Planet of Medford -- while Eladio Rosario from Philadelphia took second with a 3-pounder. That trip resulted from postponement of the weekly  Saturday 2 a.m. offshore wreck trip. Should the same thing occur this Saturday, the trip will be moved to Sunday.
