The north wind got gusty, and with large waves in the ocean it appears that most boaters stayed home. Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park noted that large blues continue to keep anglers busy in the bay, where they hit best on bunker.
Atlantic Highlands porgy fishing September 9 09 September 2017 Capt. Tom It was another day of good porgy fishing on both trips today. We are half day fishing for porgies everyday making two trips (8am to 12 30 and 1 30 to 6pm).
They moved offshore to catch dolphin before anchoring at night for tuna that didn't show -- though there were two stripped reels at 5 a. m. Finishing up with dolphin produced lots of action with fish up to 15 pounds. There wasn't much doing in Point Pleasant Canal for casters this morning, but I saw one blue of about 8 pounds caught, while I lost a similar blue on a 6-inch Tsunami Shad.

Today, we fished northeast of shark river inlet and we drifted and jigged blues. We had excellent readings paved along the bottom on the hills and rocks. Fishing died out midday but overall, it was another excellent day of blue fishing! Ava 27's, both plain and tailed, worked best.
