January 7th We were all set and ready to go this morning but the tide was really low and the ice around the boat was 3-4 inches thick!We are going to give it another day to see if it is going to break up and hopefully we will be back at it Tuesday morning.
The Ocean Explorer from Belmar had been looking at lighter winds on Sunday as a possible opportunity to seek out more of the very large blackfish they've hooked during recent trips. The NJ Marine Fisheries Council meeting and public hearing on Draft Addendum XXX to the ASMFC Black Sea Bass Fishery Management Plan scheduled for January 4, has been rescheduled to Thursday, January 11. Paul Haertel of the JCAA reports At the NJMFC meeting and amongst many other topics on the agenda, the council may consider opening the sea bass season in February.

we also had two other fish in the 11-12lb range as well,both of these were fat females as well. So we had the shots at the big fish again,if the dogs would have left us along I think we could have picked a little better at them.
