Captain Gary Dugan of the Irish Jig says he is switching gears from stripers and drum fish to fluke and the great wreck fishing going on for black sea bass. He has heard of some good catches of big bass trolling off Island Beach State Park, but no word yet on snag and drop fishing with live bunker.
Today, we had excellent blue fishing on small blues. We had fish on right away on the first drift just north of Shark River Inlet. Fishing was exceptional all day with action all around the boat. A majority of the anglers had their limits. Ava 27s and teasers worked the best.
We have had very good Sea Bass fishing on both Monday and Tuesday. Boat limits for all on most trips on Seabass up to 5 pounds, some Ling up to 5 lbs and a Cod and Pollock here and there depending on depth. SIZE is impressive some days also with many Seabass hitting the 3 pound mark
