2-6-18 We had a very nice day today offshore,very calm with light winds.,shame only a handful of people came down on such a nice day. Perch were chewing and we had inbetween a few nice codfish,some keeper pollock,and keeper blackfish.
Capt. Joe Bogan of the Jamaica II at Brielle reported catches up to 53 ling and three cod to 12 pounds. There was the same story of great ling fishing plus a few cod at Point Pleasant as the party boat fleet was being kept busy.
The Raritan Bay Anglers Club runs their Fishing Flea Market on Saturday from 8 a. m. to 2 p. m. in the Rutgers Student Center, 126 College St., New Brunswick. The Hi-Mar Striper Club Fishing Flea Market and Seminars run from 8 a. m. to 2 p. m. on Saturday, Feb, 10 in the Highlands VFW on Rt, 36 in Port Monmouth.
The DEP has announced that Little Egg Inlet is being dredged to provide both a safe channel and restored beaches and dunes in southern Long Beach Island. The Little Egg Inlet project will clear a mile-long portion of the previously marked channel that is 24 feet below mean sea level, using this sand to restore beaches in Beach Haven and Holgate on Long Beach Island.
