Didn't like the bite we had in the AM, with plenty of short Sea Bass and a Fluke here and there and not much drift, we left the area. Billy Joe fishing in the bow where hot with the jigging today, 3 nice fish each and then some.

There were new leaders in two categories, but Taylor Jean from Brielle survived again with the 72-pound white marlin from the first day that could be worth over a million dollars though they did so by a mere two pounds as Texas Tea weighed a 70-pounder to take over second place. Goin In Deep from Fort Lauderdale brought in an amazing double of leaders as their 184-pound bigeye took the tuna lead from Big Dog's 126-pounder for a potential 542,004 -- and their first eligible blue marlin of the contest (400-pound minimum) was an unbeatable 680 pounds worth a possible 721,826.
Captain Gary Dugan of the Irish Jig reports plenty of nice fish and says the wreck fishing has produced decent sea bass, triggerfish, tautog, and more. Boat limits were a daily occurrence during the first couple weeks of August, with lots of nice fish in the mix. Also, some really nice sea bass have shown up over the last week, and we've been getting our two fish per person limit of them just about every trip with some nice ones to 3 pounds going in the box.
