Today, we fished northeast of shark river inlet and we drifted and jigged blues. We had excellent readings paved along the bottom on the hills and rocks. Fishing died out midday but overall, it was another excellent day of blue fishing! Ava 27's, both plain and tailed, worked best.

August gave us great fishing inshore with lots of fish coming over the rail and keeper fluke along with black sea bass, bluefish, squid and mackerel on every trip. For the next few weeks Captain John says he will be fishing for porgies, bluefish, and bonito inshore while looking for sharks, tuna and mahi offshore.

When I was just getting into party boat fishing as a kid on Long Island, I heard of an exotic species called the false albacore which a few pros would try to catch by trolling Japanese feather jigs from the 10-knot party boats of the day on the way to bottom fishing grounds at this time of year.

  • 2017-09-07 Miss Belmar Belmar

This morning, we fished on the beach on bird life. We had some albies, bonito and blues in the morning. Once the tide changed, we lost the albies but boy oh boy did the blues bite! We SLAUGHTERED THE BLUES with most anglers onboard catching their limits and some! (but only keeping their limits) They ranged anywhere from 2-5 lbs. Ava 27s, both plain and tailed, worked the best.
