We will only be fishing weekends on a 3/4 day schedule for the Blues 730 till 230. We will fish Saturday and Sundays until we start catching some stripers then we will fish 7 days a week.I had been seeing lots of Blues in our back bay the past week in the 2-4 lb class. We will concentrate on those for the next couple weeks.
September 7 Association Report Although the weather was not very cooperative the last two weeks of the summer in Beach Haven and the New Jersey summer flounder season which closed September 5, the captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association made the most of it when they could.
When I was just getting into party boat fishing as a kid on Long Island, I heard of an exotic species called the false albacore which a few pros would try to catch by trolling Japanese feather jigs from the 10-knot party boats of the day on the way to bottom fishing grounds at this time of year.
This morning, we fished on the beach on bird life. We had some albies, bonito and blues in the morning. Once the tide changed, we lost the albies but boy oh boy did the blues bite! We SLAUGHTERED THE BLUES with most anglers onboard catching their limits and some! (but only keeping their limits) They ranged anywhere from 2-5 lbs. Ava 27s, both plain and tailed, worked the best.
