The N. J. Marine Fisheries Council took action before the public hearing by adopting status quo for this year. As noted in last week's column, many N. J. congressmen have asked the director of that agency to permit status quo while awaiting the baseline stock assessment which many expect will indicate the summer flounder fishery is actually in much better condition than present statistics show.

1-10-17 Nice day again today,decent fishing again as well. weeding through them some guys caught limit,some had 2 or 3,some one,and a few had the shorty curse but overall a good day with some nice fish mixed in .
The Sportsman's Show season opens on Thursday with the Garden State Outdoor Sports Show at the N. J. Convention Expo Center in Edison, and continues through Sunday. Therefore, the Ocean Explorer will wait for better conditions on Thursday.
