Atlantic Highlands stripe bass and bluefish May 8 08 May 2017 Capt. Tom Not many people showed up to go fishing today but we made the morning trip. In the morning we did not catch any stripe bass but caught bluefish.
There was more good news on big bass from the Canyon Runner out of Point Pleasant as Captains Phil Dulanie and Deane Lambros trolled four large stripers plus five big blues last Thursday off Long Branch. There was a good shot of blues in Raritan Bay this morning as both the Sea Hunter and the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands got into them before the change of tide brought in muddy waters that turned the choppers off.
IT LOOKS LIKE THE WIND IS GOING TO DIE DOWN AND THE WEATHER LOOKS GOOD FOR THE NEXT TWO DAYS SO WE WILL BE HEADED OUT FOR COD AND LING ON TUES. COME ON DOWN AND CATCH SOME FISH AND SOME NICE SPRING WEATHER.
We had a little lull in the middle of the day with just a few Blues each move. The fishing is not fast and furious mostly its one on and wait a little but we did have two and three on together a few times.
Atlantic Highlands stripe bass and bluefish May 7 07 May 2017 Capt. Tom Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. We are fishing everyday for stripe bass and bluefish making two trips (8am to 12 30 and1 30 to 6pm).
There was a good report from the Queen Mary out of Point Pleasant as they got some blues up to 12 pounds in the river on shads before adding others in the ocean. At Atlantic Highlands, the Sea Hunter had a good start with blues and a keeper bass before a lull with just a few blues.
Checked out some areas and found some more, Had made bait earlier and livies but went 0-4 Fish were very Finicky on the baits. Had a bunch of cherries popped with Tony, Dave and Ralph getting Their first ever.
