Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 14 14 August 2016 Capt. Tom Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. The fishing on the afternoon trip was not as good but everyone still caught fish but again not everyone caught keepers.
08 14 2016 The Frank Ruddy charter joined Capt Paul for a couple of hours of Fluke fishing. When the wind came on later in the morning the guys added 3 more Fluke to the catch along with over 20 shorts and a good number of Skates.
First fish of the day ended up being the Pool Fish caught by June, it weighed in at Just under Seven Pounds. Lenny, Adam,Lynn and a couple other customers all had nice fish between Three and Six Pounds with Adams Six plus coming in second on the pool.
Started where we have been fishing and had loads of action and a bunch of keepers on a long drift before the current got way too strong and we had to leave the area. Spent the rest of the day in a couple of nearby areas with less current and managed to continue to pick away at both keepers and shorts until it was time to come home but our best fishing was definitely this morning.
However, they didn't bite and a switch to bottom fishing produced some fluke up to 7 pounds plus sea bass. Capt. John Kolias wasn't in the SWABC top three, but had a great trip for Barry Paull of that club as the charter on Reel Fun from Twin Lights Marina in Highlands caught 33 fluke which included 16 keepers from 4 to 6 pounds.
