Bob Matthews, at Fisherman's Den in Belmar, noted the sea bass catches made by bottom boats during Sunday's opener, as well as some large stripers trolled and small ones in the surf

October 23rd, 2017 Stripers Blues Charters Today, we continued to fish out east along the edge of the mud hole. With Miss Belmar s 3 engines and a total of 2,100 horsepower, she is the first boat to the fishing grounds every day and we guarantee it.
Lasko managed to land a little tunny. There wasn't such good surf news from Vinnie D'Anton of Wall along with his friends, including Mike Monte from Nantucket, fishing baches north of Shark River as they were shut out.
We only had a few people show today for the Stripers but it was such a nice day I told the guys I would take them out till the end of the tide as we had good conditions with the incoming tide and the south wind. We have our last charter of the season on Saturday October 28th and then its open boat seven days a week (weather permitting) till the end of the Striper season.
