    Gale force winds and some pretty cold weather is heading this way. So like I said in the previous report, we will JUST BE SAILING WEEKENDS (Not this weekend due to weather).

    Despite very cold temperatures and strong winds, it will be warm in the Middletown VFW, on Veteran's Lane off Rt. 36 East, where the annual Hi-Mar Striper Club's Fishing Flea Market and Seminars will run from 8 a. m. to 3 p. m. Saturday. Over the past 18 years this event has raised nearly 250,000 making it one of IGFA's most successful fund raising events on their annual calendar. A cocktail hour precedes a deluxe hot and cold buffet dinner followed by the Fishing Tackle Bonanza Auction where thousands of dollars worth of fishing tackle including rods, reels, line and lures donated by major tackle manufacturers and local tackle shops, plus jewelry, marine artwork and other fishing related items and accessories will be given away.

    Paul Jameson from Philadelphia bagged three cod, two pollock and five ling. Striper pro Chuck Many will be doing one of the seminars, and I'll be there with some tackle that my wife insists on getting out of the garage.

    The water was cold with 39 degrees as far out as 10 miles and 42-44 degrees from 15-30 miles. The best bite seems to be the further you get from the Delaware Bay as the water flowing out of the bay is quite cold from all the snow runoff.

    Last trips out we caught some Cod, Pollock, Ling and even a few Mackeral. Pool winner on the last trip was Billy Watson Lansdale, Pa with a 19 pound Pollock he also had another Pollock and 2 Cod and 5 Ling.

    Winter Fishing Season Monday, February 8, 2016 We got back from dry dock this week and sailed Saturday and Sunday and found slow action with Cod, Ling and Blackfish. The action the past two days was slow with catches of two to eight per man.

    In regards to seabass and fluke, we still have no idea what the SEASONS will be but the length of the fluke season will be similar to last year with PROBABLY the same regulations (18 5 fish). For next fall, I'm 99. 9 sure we will be carrying BONUS tags for those overpopulated nuisance slot sized fish in the 24-27. 9999 range ) We will be in the same slip at Clark's, however the docks will have a new, refreshed look as we are getting BRAND NEW docks out on the west dock.

    Sunday was another beautiful day for ocean fishing, but there was no change in the mackerel situation as the Golden Eagle from Belmar jigged loads of herring with only scattered mackerel among them. The Big Mohawk from Belmar fished offshore for blackfish on Saturday.
