Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant had been doing well with small stripers in the surf before daylight. The Jamaica from Brielle had another big catch of jumbo sea bass and porgies plus a few bluefish on Sunday's offshore wreck trip.

The bite you really couldn't feel very well due to the fact that 25- to 30-knot wind was whipping through your line, and the fact that the 4- to 6-foot chop with 3-second intervals was beating the boat around like a washing machine, and also with only a handful of fishermen, it was the best trip of the fall blackfish season. The weather was perfect, anchoring conditions were good, the small fish were there, but only a handful of keepers.
It appears there were very few waterproof anglers around this morning, but Miss Belmar Princess got into a good early bite of stripers and blues that resulted in 30 fish aboard by lunch time. Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant released a few 18-to-20-inch stripers on the black Mambo Minnow in the dark this morning at Bay Head.
