October 26, 2016 10-26-16 Fish bite today was good all day, some did well with keeper sea bass close to their limit, and some had less. The short sea bass were also very active today, keeping the you busy around the rail.
10 26 16 The Carolyn Ann lll lost fishing on Saturday and Sunday due to weather, but we did sail Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Now on Wednesday afternoon, the wind finally died out, and we had a charter with the MATES school, and had some real good fishing.
Headed offshore to a couple of deeper pieces and found the seabass we were seeking. Good mixed bag fishing for the rest of the day with lots of seabass with a very nice percentage of keepers to go along with some porgies and a few blowfish to round out the catch.
When I joined Capt. Erwin Heinrich this morning on his Scales N Tales from Twin Lights Marina in Highands, I didn't expect to see many boats in Raritan Bay during a weekday on the coldest morning of the year with a continuing northwest wind gusting to 25 mph. Gomber got things started in spectacular fashion when Heinrich stopped his Contender on bait readings and near a whale in mid-bay by tempting a 36 1 2-inch striper to hit a Tsunami Shad.
