The best report today came from the Golden Eagle out of Belmar which reported a super day of fishing for bonito, little tunny and chub mackerel -- along with a 20-to-25-pound yellowfin tuna boated and another lost. Hopefully, those mullet will move out into the ocean after Sunday's east winds to get the fall surf striper run started early.
Blue Chip Charters is still hauling in the Fluke. Due to restrictions and regs Fluke Season is winding down, and great catches are being recorded, in both the river and ocean!
This morning, we had another excellent day of fishing east of shark river inlet. We anchored up along the edge of the mud hole again and started the mackerel right away. We continued to catch the macs along with some nice sized bonito and jumbo sea bass (which had to go back)
Made both morning and afternoon trips the past two days. Yesterday morning we picked at the shorts and caught some keeper fluke. On the afternoon trip the action was not as good but we still picked at the shorts and had some keepers. Today was a different story. On the morning trip the it was a bit windy and the fishing was not good. On the afternoon trip the weather got nicer and the fishing was better. We picked at the shorts and caught some keepers.
