    He noted that the council cancelled their March meeting, and will instead wait until the April meeting to set the fluke and sea bass seasons when all the information from the ASMFC is available. The Big Jamaica from Brielle will be sailing Saturday and Jan. 20 and 27 to offshore wrecks for cod, pollock and jumbo porgies from 2 a. m. to 6 p. m. Call 732 528-5014 for reservations on those 140 trips.

    HMS permit holders with a shark endorsement will be required to use non-offset, non-stainless steel circle hooks while fishing for sharks recreationally in federal waters (3 - 200 miles offshore) south of 41deg43'N latitude (Chatham, MA), except when fishing with flies or artificial lures Commercial HMS directed shark permit holders using bottom longline gear will also be required to use circle hooks. New York State already requires that sharks, excluding spiny dogfish, shall not be taken for commercial or recreational purposes by baited hooking except with the use of non-stainless steel non-offset circle hooks in state waters (0 - 3 miles offshore).

    We picked away at the fish today,had some nice moments with good life all around the boat. Check out a few pics,Skip won the pool with a quality fish and took home some major cash.

    Paul Haertel of the JCAA reports At the NJMFC meeting and amongst many other topics on the agenda, the council may consider opening the sea bass season in February. Specifically, regarding the addendum JCAA supports Regional management as opposed to coast wide management as the fisheries in the various states regions are quite different.

    So in the end I was glad to see some fish chewing,not in the numbers I would like,and no big fish today but it was a start for sure. Game plan for tomorrow is head back offshore and look for bigger fish again,Today we fished 90-140 feet.

    Nothing great though but we felt out the ground and have a good idea where to try tomorrow!  We did catch a FEW nice size Blackfish.  If you do come with us tomorrow please stop by the local tackle stores if you would like White Crabs.
