SAT) This A. M we ran our open boat Sea Bass trip and our first drop we only saw a few keeper Sea Bass but did catch several Tog on it that were released. The last area we got what we needed for the boat to limit out with some Ling and porgys (released) too.
Today we had a charter for Adam and his friends for a day of Sea Bass fishing and the first drop we picked away at the keepers and a ton of shorts.
The Ocean Explorer from Belmar has the same report as every day this week -- limits of sea bass for most customers, with diamond jigs producing the largest fish. Capt. Joe Bogan has been catching a mix of sea bass and fluke on his morning trips with Jamaica II from Brielle, while the afternoon trips concentrate on sea bass with lots of limits taken during the half-day.
Made both morning and afternoon trips again today fishing in Sandy Hook Bay. On the morning trip we tried different areas and found fish in all of them. Most were shorts but there were keeper fluke mixed in. On the afternoon trip we tried the same areas but the fishing was not as good.
